Lehi celebrated its fifth annual Day of Service on Sept. 12, honoring six individuals and one business with awards during a closing ceremony at Willow Creek Middle School. Hundreds of volunteers participated in the event, which included cleaning city parks and assembling food kits.
Mayor Paul Binns attended the program, where he shared reflections on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and participated in a color ceremony. The event featured performances by choirs from Lehi and Skyridge high schools, and student body officers joined Binns on stage during the noon ceremony.
Six recipients were honored with the Heart of Service Award. Gig Griffith, a student council advisor, was recognized for her work empowering young leaders in professional organizations and higher education. Cindy Kramer received the award after logging nearly 3,000 volunteer hours at Thanksgiving Point, contributing to Curiosity Farms, Ashton Gardens, and the Butterfly Biosphere. Diane and Alan Knight and their grandson, Luke Knight, were honored for their weekly tradition of baking homemade cookies every Saturday night for the Lehi Ronald McDonald House Family Room.
The JustServe Hero Awards were presented to three recipients. Youth recipient Enoch Streadbeck was recognized for mentoring local families and children during the summers of 2025 and 2026, logging over 167 hours. Adult recipient Katie Bunnell was honored for co-founding the Lehi-based Live Your Dream Foundation in 2010, a nonprofit that provided more than $357,000 in scholarships totaling 212 awards as of its 2022 annual report.
Strata Networks received the JustServe Hero Award as the business recipient. The company partnered with Lehi City to revitalize Willow Park by installing a swing set and horseshoe pits. Additionally, the company removed 300 feet of old asphalt trail at Dry Creek Park, cleared overgrown vegetation, and prepared new trail alignments.
The Day of Service is organized by the Lehi Serves Coalition, which was founded in 2022. Founding member Abby Hughes described the event as a contagious and happy feeling. The event is held annually near the anniversary of Sept. 11, though no date has been set for the 2027 occurrence.
