A voluntary, parent-run ski and snowboard program is scheduled to offer lessons at Sundance for four weeks this winter. The program, which is not sponsored by Edgemont Elementary or the Provo School District, requires participants to be at least 8 years old by January.
Lessons are scheduled to take place on Thursdays, specifically Jan. 7th, Jan. 21st, Jan. 28th, and Feb. 4th, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will travel via a bus departing Edgemont at 12:30 p.m., with the bus scheduled to depart Sundance at 4:15 p.m. and return to Edgemont for pick-up between 4:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Lesson costs are set at $290 for those with a Sundance season pass or $390 for non-season pass holders, excluding rentals. Optional equipment rental through Sundance is $120 for four weeks and includes helmet rental. Transportation via the Provo School District is available for $30 for the first child and $15 for each additional sibling.
The registration deadline is Dec. 12th. Required paperwork includes the Sundance Registration Form and the Ski School Waiver, both of which must be completed online. Those renting equipment from Sundance must also print and return a rental form to the school by the Dec. 12th deadline.
The program is made possible by Principal Kartchner. For students wishing to participate in the FreeRide program due to reaching specific skill levels, Brooke McCormick is the contact for Sundance Resort.
Registration is handled online. For questions, individuals may contact Jessica Salmon or Celina Lay.
