Utah Valley University is preparing for its upcoming Freshman Convocation, marking the official start of the college journey for new Wolverines. All first-time, first-year students beginning at UVU in either the summer or fall 2026 terms are required to attend the event.
The convocation serves as a primary moment for new students to connect with campus leaders, meet peers, and engage with the university community.
The event features various activities including student performances, videos showcasing student life, and opportunities to learn UVU traditions. Students will also have the chance to meet professors and staff members who will support them throughout their academic careers.
Following the convocation, a Freshman Family BBQ will be held outside the UCCU Center. The meal, catered by Wallaby's, is open to students and their family members. Organizers are requesting that attendees RSVP to ensure sufficient food is available for the expected crowd.
Additionally, students can attend a women's soccer game at the new UCCU Stadium on August 17th at 7:30 pm following the BBQ.
With over 5,000 students and family members expected to attend, university officials have provided specific arrival and parking instructions. Due to high vehicle volume anticipated at the University Parkway entrance, attendees are advised to allow an additional 25 minutes for travel and parking.
To avoid traffic backups at the University Parkway traffic circle, visitors are encouraged to access campus from the east side via 400 West or from the north side via 1200 West. Parking is directed toward lots L10, L9, L8, L5, and L3. All freshmen are asked to be in their seats by 5:45 pm for a 6 pm start time.
