Temple Square, spanning from State Street to West Temple, will be open to the public for the upcoming general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. North Temple Street in Salt Lake City is now free of construction barriers as the nearly seven-year renovation of the Salt Lake Temple draws to a close, according to a September 25 statement.
Visitors to the grounds may walk the area to view landscapes and statues. The "Jesus Christ With Mary and Martha" statue was installed on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, joining 10 other new statues at Temple Square. One additional statue, titled "Jesus Christ Blessing the Children," will be installed later, which will bring the total number of new statues to 12.
The 196th Semiannual General Conference is scheduled for October 3–4, 2026. During this event, church leaders will teach of Jesus Christ and share inspired messages. Musical performances will be provided by The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square during three sessions, while a special choir from the nearby area will perform during one session.
To attend in person at the Conference Center, guests must have tickets. A standby line will be available outside the Tabernacle at Temple Square for overflow seating and potential seating in the Conference Center.
Preparations are increasing for the Salt Lake Temple Celebration, which is scheduled to occur from April 5 through October 1, 2027. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and chair of the Salt Lake Temple Celebration Committee, stated that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a global church with a universal message of Jesus Christ in which they rejoice.
During the six-month celebration, visitors are invited to learn about the teachings, gospel, and role of Jesus Christ in God's plan for His children. Tickets for open house tour reservations are being released in batches, with the next set becoming available at 6 p.m. MDT on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
