The Lehi Historical Society will honor Lenard and Julia Wing and Lec and Kim Holmes during the 2026 Lehi Heritage Days celebration, recognizing their extensive legacies of community service and family devotion. The honorees will be celebrated on Aug. 29 from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the Lehi Civic Center, as part of a program featuring seven distinguished couples and individuals.
Honoring the Wing Family Legacy
The celebration of the Wings family includes a tribute to a legacy that began decades ago. Lenard and Julia Wing were married on June 17, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a partnership that grew from a friendship formed on a mortuary porch in 1974. Lenny Wing, who passed away on April 22, 2012, due to cancer, was a prominent figure in Lehi community life, having served as president of the Lehi Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Lehi Round-Up Parade and Special Events Committee. He was also a bishop of the Lehi 11th Ward and a member of the North Stake presidency of the LDS Church. In 2011, he was inducted into the Lehi High School Hall of Fame.
A Life of Music and Service
Julia Wing has remained a dedicated community figure, serving in the PTA at Sego Lily Elementary and Lehi Jr. High, and teaching swimming at the Lehi outdoor swimming pool. Her religious service includes roles as a Relief Society president and participation in the Girls Camp program. She currently serves as an ordinance worker in the Payson Utah Temple. The couple's family life was deeply connected to music; Lenny played the piano and organ, while Julia played the clarinet. Both performed in the Lehi Silver Band, with Lenny on drums. Their six children—Michael Ron, Quinn Aaron, Christopher Franklin, Steven Alva, Leisel Ann, and Anne Nicole—each became contributing members of the family band.
Scouting and Historical Recognition
The Wings' commitment to Scouting was a lifelong passion. Lenard earned several high-level distinctions, including Eagle Scout, the Duty to God Award, the Second Miler Award, the Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver. Julia served as a Cub Scout leader and participated in the Spark-Up program. A quilt she created to display many of Lenny’s scouting achievements was previously exhibited in the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City during a 100-year celebration exhibit of the Church’s charter with the Boy Scouts of America.
Decades of Holmes Family Service
Lec and Kim Holmes will also be recognized for their decades of service to the Lehi community. The couple, who married on Nov. 29, 1985, and celebrated their 40th anniversary last year, were sealed with their children on May 15, 1999, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Lec Holmes has spent years serving Lehi’s youth through Little League wrestling, church callings, four pioneer treks, and over 20 years at LDS Girls Camp. Known for his willingness to help neighbors with building, welding, or barbecuing, Lec has been a constant presence in the community.
Rodeo Roots and Professional Legacy
Lec’s dedication to service was inspired by his grandfather, Carl "Blackie" Harris, who served on the Civic Improvement Association, now known as the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo Committee. Lec grew up assisting at the rodeo grounds and later became a director for the committee. Professionally, Lec worked for more than 35 years as an ironworker, helping to build projects across the West. He was part of Steel Erectors, Inc., and contributed to the construction of communications cabins during the 2002 Winter Olympics. He earned the GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Award and retired from the Ironworkers Union before joining SME Steel.
Community Leadership and Education
Kim Holmes has contributed significantly to local organizations, serving as the secretary of the Lehi Historical Society since 2016. She is also a member of the Historical Marker Unveiling Committee, which organizes an annual unveiling program. Her religious service includes various callings in Primary, Sunday School, and the Relief Society, as well as 20 years in the Young Women’s organization. After a career at Zions Bank, Kim transitioned to education and currently works at Polaris High School, having earned a bachelor’s degree in business accounting in 2025.
