The Hideout Town Council scheduled public hearings for Aug. 13, 2026, to consider significant amendments to the fiscal year 2027 budget and modifications to the town's fee and rate schedules. The upcoming legislative session follows a period of administrative activity, including a series of council meetings and public hearings held throughout 2025 and 2026.
Upcoming Public Hearings
According to a public notice issued by the Town of Hideout on Aug. 6, 2026, the council will hold the hearings at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be available to the public both in person at Hideout Town Hall, located at 10860 N. Hideout Trail, and electronically via Zoom. The council is also scheduled to hold a regular meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m. prior to the formal hearings.
Budget and Impact Fee Amendments
One of the primary items on the agenda involves an amendment to the FY27 budget specifically targeting impact fees. K. Shepely, a town financial consultant, is scheduled to provide a 15-minute presentation regarding the proposed changes for streets, storm drain, sewer, and water impact fees. Following this presentation, the council may take action on Resolution 2026-R-XX to approve the amendment.
Proposed Fee and Rate Increases
The council is also considering modifications to the Hideout Fee and Rate Schedule. Town Attorney C. Gordon is slated to lead a 10-minute discussion regarding proposed increases or modifications to several municipal costs. These include parking fees, parking violations, penalty fees, code violations, fines, impact fees, and fines for parking in fire lanes.
New Construction Protocols
A third item under consideration for the Aug. 13 meeting involves the establishment of a new pre-construction meeting process for builders. This process, which includes the designation of appropriate work site parking, is to be presented by Town Attorney C. Gordon. The council will consider the adoption of Resolution-R-XX following a 15-minute discussion on the matter.
Town Leadership Structure
The town's current leadership includes Mayor Ralph Severini, whose term runs from 2026 to 2029. The Town Council consists of members Robert Nadelberg, Tanya Brady, Carol Haselton, Jonathan Gunn, and Brian Cooper. According to the town's official website, various council members have terms spanning 2024 through 2029.
State Fiscal Regulations
The upcoming budget discussions occur within the framework of Utah state law regarding municipal fiscal management. Under Utah Code Section 17-63-305, which became effective Nov. 6, 2025, governing bodies are required to adopt a final budget by resolution on or before the last day of each fiscal period. The law mandates that a final budget is in effect for the next fiscal period unless amended, and requires the finance officer to certify and file a copy with the state auditor within 30 days of adoption.

The current legislative session follows a lengthy series of town council meetings and public hearings. Records show the council held a series of regular and special meetings throughout 2025 and 2026, including a regular meeting and public hearing on July 9, 2026, and a special meeting on July 23, 2026.
