The U.S. Department of State is currently accepting applications for various summer and academic year exchange programs designed to immerse students in critical language learning, according to a June 12 announcement from the department's exchange programs website.
Diverse program participants
The Department of State sponsors multiple educational, cultural, and professional exchange programs worldwide for a wide range of participants. Available tracks include academics, scholars, researchers, athletes, coaches, civic leaders, and government officials, as well as teachers, graduate students, and young professionals.
Critical Language Scholarship details
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program provides full funding for students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. The department is currently accepting applications for programs focusing on languages including Arabic, Indonesian, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish.
Additional exchange initiatives and impact
The department's exchange initiatives also include featured programs such as TechWomen and YES Abroad. Additionally, the department noted that U.S. summer camps Kenwood and Evergreen have provided a sense of normalcy for Ukrainian exchange students who are currently unable to return home due to the war in Ukraine.
