Cedar Middle School in Cedar City has been recognized as a National School to Watch. The school is part of the Iron County School District.
The school district recently transitioned from using Remind to a new communication platform called ParentSquare. This change was implemented to help keep parents and students more connected and better informed regarding school updates.
Throughout the academic year, the school hosted various activities, including a spring art exhibition featuring student art and band performances. Students also participated in a TRIO field trip to Southwest Technical College and the SUU Aviation Center in Cedar City. Other student activities included a STEM challenge activity where students competed in a tin foil boat challenge and various musical performances from the choir and orchestra.
The Iron County School District Board of Education has been involved in several administrative discussions. These include approving the traditional school year calendar for 2026-27 and holding public hearings regarding boundary proposals. The board has continued to discuss various options, including the possibility of a four-day school week and refinements to proposed boundary changes affecting several schools.
Cedar Middle School continues to foster student engagement through programs like Hope Week, which is led by the Hope Squad to raise mental health awareness and promote a positive environment.
