The Salt Lake City Historic Landmark Commission scheduled a meeting for Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the City & County Building. The meeting was set to begin at 5:30 PM in Room 326 of the 451 South State Street location.
The agenda included a continuation of a request by Upwall Design for a major alteration to the Carlson House, located at approximately 378 N Quince St. The proposal involves constructing a new two-story addition to the landmark site within the Capitol Hill Local Historic District.
Two National Register nominations were presented for review. The State Historic Preservation Office requested input regarding the addition of the Gilgal Sculpture Garden, located at approximately 749 E 500 S, to the National Register of Historic Places. Additionally, the SHPO requested review for the nomination of the Desmond and Pamela Killen House, located at approximately 239 E Dorchester Dr, to the National Register.
A work session was scheduled to discuss new construction and a major alteration for a project at approximately 56 & 58 E Hillside Ave. Marcus Stevenson with Garbett Homes requested feedback regarding a proposal for a new multifamily building containing six units, along with a two-unit addition attached to an existing structure, for a total of nine units in the Capitol Hill Historic District.
Other business items included the election of the Chair and Vice Chair.
The next regular meeting for the Commission is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. Public comments for agenda items must be submitted via email to the specific staff contact by 12:00 PM on the Wednesday before the meeting to be included in the Staff Report.
