Gunfire broke out at a party in Salt Lake City's Rose Park neighborhood on Saturday morning, according to a report published October 18. The incident, which occurred near 1800 W. Sergeant Drive, left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to the scene at approximately 11 a.m. after a disagreement outside a home turned violent. According to KUTV, an unknown person fired a gun during the dispute, striking one victim. No other victims were reported by police, and as of Sunday, no suspect had been identified for the shooting.
The investigation remains in its early stages with limited details available. Investigators have not confirmed if any weapon or physical evidence was recovered at the scene. Salt Lake City police have requested that any witnesses or individuals with information contact the department through its non-emergency dispatch line.
This incident follows other shootings in the Rose Park area in 2026. In March, a 22-year-old man was shot while driving through the neighborhood and drove himself to a gas station for medical attention. In February, shots were reported at a Chevron gas station located at 938 N. 900 West on a Saturday evening following a fight, though no one was injured in that incident.
Salt Lake City's broader crime trends show mixed results for the first half of 2026 compared to 2025. While robberies decreased by nearly 28% and aggravated assaults fell by 12%, homicides and rapes remained statistically unchanged. This follows 2025 data where homicides fell to five from seven, while aggravated assaults increased by 9%.
