The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a 20-minute video Sunday, May 17, 2026, offering a rare glimpse into the Missionary Training Center in Provo as the organization's new Temple Square Visitors' Center opens to the public.
The video, titled "What It’s Like Inside the Missionary Training Center," follows host Danor Gerald as he explores life inside one of the Church's 11 worldwide training centers. The footage captures missionaries participating in classes, learning more than 60 languages, and preparing for service in 451 missions across 150 countries.
According to the Church, missionary numbers have reached a historic high, with more than 84,000 full-time teaching missionaries currently serving. The Church also lowered the minimum age for single women from 19 to 18 in November 2025, a move that has encouraged more young women to prepare for service.
The new Temple Square Visitors' Center in Salt Lake City features 39,800 square feet of space divided into east and west wings. The facility includes a lower level with interactive exhibits, temple scale models, and permanent temple replica rooms that allow guests to see interior spaces not typically open to the public.
The visitors' center serves as a resource for understanding temple worship and the role of temples in the lives of members. The Church has announced an open house celebration for the newly renovated Salt Lake Temple and surrounding Temple Square, scheduled to run from April 2027 through October 2027.
