Airmen from the 388th Fighter Wing have been recognized with Distinguished Flying Crosses and Bronze Stars for historic combat operations.
During a ceremony held at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, acting 388th Fighter Wing commander Col. Christopher Hubbard presented the Bronze Star to Master Sgt. Nathan Varnagatas.
The award for Master Sgt. Varnagatas honors his actions performed during a deployment to the United States Central Command area of responsibility in 2025.

Governor Spencer J. Cox has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff across all Utah state facilities to honor firefighter pilots Chris Andersen and Miles Elliott, who died while battling the Widemouth 2 Fire. The order, effective August 11, 2026, remains in place until sunset on the day of the last interment.
