The construction of the new West High School reached a significant milestone this week with the installation of the first concrete wall panels at the northwest corner of the site.
Following several months of excavating and pouring foundations and footings, crews have transitioned to the next stage of development using tilt-up wall panels.
To help keep the project within budget, crews are utilizing casting beds to build the wall panels on-site rather than transporting pre-poured sections from an off-site location.
Phase One of the construction project, which consists of the main school building, a field house, and an academic tower, is expected to be finished in 2030. Once this phase is complete, students will move into the new facility, allowing Phase Two to begin.
While construction continues at West High School, several local facilities will support athletic needs. The Glendale Track and Field, Rosewood Park, and the field at Dilworth Elementary will host various teams and practices during the rebuild.
The Salt Lake City School District is also managing related bond projects, including the rebuild of Highland High School and the construction of an athletic field house at East High.
