Utah Tech University inducted Tony and Shae Allen and V. Lowry Snow into its Hall of Fame this fall in celebration of their contributions to the Southern Utah community. Utah Tech University President Shane B. Smeed stated that the induction celebrates the legacy and extraordinary contributions of people who have helped make the university and the community what they are today.
Tony Allen has maintained a 52-year legal career in St. George since moving there in 1971. His community involvement includes serving as president of the Kiwanis Club, founding the United Way of St. George, and serving on the first board of SkyWest Airlines. He has also served as president of Sunbrook Realty and chaired the Washington County Republican Party. Additionally, Allen has served on the Utah Tech University Foundation board for seven years, including three years as chair, and currently serves as a board member for the Sons of Utah Pioneers Cotton Mission Chapter.
Shae Allen has worked as a special education teacher in both Oakland, California, and at East Elementary in St. George. For the past five years, she has led a group that produces sleeping mats for homeless individuals using recycled plastic grocery bags. The Allens have also provided support for the renovation of the Greater Zion Stadium and various other university causes.
V. Lowry Snow, who holds a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University, began practicing law in St. George in 1979 as a founder of the firm now known as Snow Jensen & Reece. Snow served in the Utah State Legislature as a member of the House of Representatives from 2012 until retiring at the end of 2022, during which time he chaired the House Public Education Committee.
Snow currently serves as president and board member of the Utah Bar Foundation and is the chair of the Southern Utah Performing Arts Foundation, which was central to securing funding for the remodel of the America First Performing Arts Center at Utah Tech University. He also serves on the boards of the Utah Governing Group and Clean Slate Utah, and chairs the Point of the Mountain State Land Authority.
The Utah Tech University Hall of Fame was established in 1998 and has inducted 125 members across seven categories: Business, Education, Fine and Performing Arts, Public and University Service, Science and Technology, Athletics, and Social Sciences and Humanities. This year, inductees were added to a new digital interactive wall in the America First Performing Arts Center lobby, made possible by the Utah Tech University Foundation Board.
