Residents of Colorado City and those living on the east side of the Arizona Strip can now access basic motor vehicle services locally through a new virtual service station located inside Colorado City Town Hall. The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (ADOT MVD) launched the TeleMVD station to provide dozens of driver and vehicle services without requiring long drives to Littlefield or Page.
The arrival of the TeleMVD station follows the loss of the town's previous local MVD option. In February 2025, ADOT revoked the third-party authorization of Asset Insurance due to compliance failures with state contract requirements. This closure forced residents to travel to other locations for tasks such as registration renewals and title transfers, a situation similar to the regional service loss experienced in 2017.
Modeled after telemedicine, the new system uses video calls to connect customers face-to-face with MVD employees located elsewhere. The Town Hall kiosk is equipped with a computer, camera, printer/scanner, and payment device to facilitate tasks like credential replacements and registration renewals.
The station was established through a partnership between ADOT MVD, Mayor Howard Ream, and Town Manager Vance Barlow. Motor Vehicle Division Director Michael Cryderman stated that ADOT MVD is pleased to bring this service to Colorado City and aims to get customers off the line and safely on the road.
Colorado City joins other small Arizona communities such as St. Johns and Fredonia in using the TeleMVD network. The network also serves the Homeless ID Project, a nonprofit assisting individuals experiencing homelessness with obtaining identification.
