Salt Lake City maintains a diverse film festival scene that celebrates various genres year-round, according to a report published August 25. The city hosts more than a dozen festivals annually, supporting independent filmmakers, documentary storytellers, animation artists, and horror enthusiasts.
Several festivals were scheduled throughout 2026. The Wasatch Mountain Film Festival, which focuses on outdoor adventure and environmental documentaries, was held on May 2, 2026, in the Granary District. TumbleWeeds Film Festival for Kids, which features a student film competition and workshops, took place on April 25, 2026, at the West Jordan Library.
Other scheduled events included the Cauldron International Film and Video Festival from June 24 to June 27, 2026, and the Fear No Film Festival, which ran from June 18 to June 21, 2026, at the Salt Lake City Downtown Library Auditorium. The Mima Pacific Islands Film Festival was held from June 23 to June 25, 2026.
Additional programming included Davey Fest from June 25 to June 27, 2026, and ZepFest at the Murray Theater from September 21 to September 26, 2026. The Haymaker Film Festival was scheduled for September 25 to September 26, 2026, at The Beehive. Spy Hop's Backyard Film Bash was held on September 19, 2026, at Smith's Ballpark.
The Utah Dance Film Festival was scheduled for October 9-10, 2026. Other October events included the Opening Weekend Film Festival, Frightlake Horror Film Festival on October 3, 2026, and FilmQuest in Provo. The Utah Queer Film Festival was held from November 6 to November 8, 2026, at the Utah Film Center. The Utah Nonprofit Film Festival was also scheduled for early November.
