Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested a man after a surveillance operation connected him to several incidents of destruction of property at a Lorton homeowner’s community center, according to an August 27 report.
The suspect allegedly caused approximately $8,000 in damage at the center located at 9050 Lorton Station Boulevard.
Since July 9, a masked suspect committed six incidents of destruction of property at the community center. During these incidents, the suspect used rocks, a hammer, and cinder blocks to damage windows.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect wearing a black robe, fluorescent gloves, white shoes with fluorescent laces, and a mask in the style of the movie Scream.
On August 17, detectives conducting surveillance near the community center observed 22-year-old Zion Gibbs of Lorton walking in the area at approximately 4:24 a.m. Detectives noted that Gibbs returned wearing the same costume used in previous incidents. Gibbs was observed retrieving bricks and running toward the community center before being taken into custody.
Gibbs was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held on no bond. He faces charges including three felony counts of destruction of property, three misdemeanor counts of destruction of property, and wearing a mask in public.
