Residents in Roy had very little time to react Monday afternoon when flames moved through a neighborhood, damaging several homes. The fire was reported at approximately 2:45 p.m.
As the fire spread, neighbors took action to prevent the flames from reaching their own properties. During the incident, one neighbor reported that thousands of rounds of ammunition stored outside a home began igniting due to the heat, which caused loud popping sounds to echo through the area.
While investigators have not yet determined the cause of the blaze, some neighbors expressed suspicion that sparks from a passing FrontRunner train may have started the fire. Officials have not confirmed this information.
The fire caused delays for FrontRunner service in both directions following the outbreak near the Roy Station. The incident involved a grass fire that spread near the Weber County location.
