The West Valley City Police Department released limited details following a stabbing that took place Monday afternoon at Valley Fair Mall.
The incident was dispatched at approximately 2:40 p.m., prompting officers in multiple vehicles to respond to the scene located at 3601 S. Constitution Blvd.
According to a statement posted by the department on X, a male suspect approached a male employee working at a mall kiosk just before 3 p.m.
The department stated that after a brief interaction, the suspect used a knife to stab the employee multiple times. Bystanders intervened during the attack and were able to separate the suspect from the victim and subdue him until police arrived.
The victim was taken to a hospital for surgery, and the suspect was placed in custody. The West Valley City Police Department noted there is no threat to the public and stated that investigators are looking into possible motives and any potential relationship between the suspect and the victim.
