The 75th Security Forces Squadron launched Operation New Sheriff on Aug. 13 to target traffic infractions following a surge in speeding violations across the installation, according to a Aug. 21 statement.
This concentrated enforcement surge involved defenders monitoring six designated locations over a three-hour period to reinforce installation safety.
While the primary objective of the operation was to curb excessive speed, Security Forces initiated traffic stops for all observed traffic violations. Tech. Sgt. Caroline Cruikshank of the 75th Security Forces Squadron stated that the targeted operation serves as a direct reminder to motorists to slow down and adhere to posted traffic regulations.
Squadron officials noted that observing speed limits is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways for drivers to ensure public safety.
The enforcement drive occurred as local schools were set to resume classes in one week, which is expected to increase pedestrian foot traffic, including children walking to school zones and bus stops. Security Forces leadership is urging military, civilian, and contractor personnel to be vigilant, eliminate distractions, and strictly observe traffic laws to protect the base community.
