Organizations including the Hill Aerospace Museum, the Salvation Army, and the Weber County Animal Shelter have specific needs for community assistance.
The Hill Air Force Base Retiree Office is seeking volunteers for office duties Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Candidates must have base access and be a retired military member or retired military spouse. The role requires basic knowledge of military processes, buildings, and office skills such as answering phones and handling walk-in traffic, with potential for event activities or social media work. Nearby, the Hill Aerospace Museum is looking for volunteers for four-hour shifts from Tuesday through Saturday, including individuals who can provide sign language services on call for groups or individuals.
Food security and senior support remain significant areas for service. Catholic Community Services is seeking volunteers for its food pantry to assist with setting up, distributing groceries, stocking shelves, and cleaning. Shifts are available Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with additional help needed on occasional Saturdays during those same hours. Ogden Valley Nutrition requires assistance serving lunches to seniors on Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. through the end of July. Additionally, Brigham City Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers to deliver meals Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Specialized instructional and community roles are also available. The Washington Terrace Senior Center is seeking a Tai Chi instructor and assistance with lunchtime meal service and guest check-in. Northview Senior Center is looking for a wire wrapping instructor and a nutrition class teacher. Farr West Senior Center is seeking teachers for subjects such as crochet, knitting, ceramics, or painting. For those interested in mentorship, the Senior Companion Program seeks individuals 55 and older living on moderate to low income to serve as companions; the program offers a monthly stipend that does not affect SSDI benefits.
The Weber County Sport Shooting Complex is offering incentives for volunteers who serve as Range Safety Officers or cashiers, including the opportunity to shoot for free after volunteering eight hours a month. Training classes are held every third Saturday of the month. For those interested in legal advocacy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) seeks individuals over 21 who can pass a background check to represent the interests of children.
