KJZZ 14 has announced a television broadcast schedule for 29 high school football games, released in conjunction with the Utah High School Activities Association. The schedule features all six defending state champions and will begin on August 20, concluding with a tripleheader of state championship games on November 20.
The America First Prep Showdown on KJZZ 14, powered by WRE Biofuels, includes 34 different teams. Defending champions featured in the lineup are Bingham (5A), Timpview (4A), Dixie (3AA), Judge Memorial (3A), South Summit (2A), and Rich (1A).
Games are scheduled to be broadcast twice a week on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., with the exception of a Wednesday broadcast on October 14. Following 20 regular season broadcasts, the schedule moves into nine playoff games, including the first round on October 30, quarterfinals on November 6, and state semifinals on November 12 and 13.
The tripleheader of state championship games for 3AA, 4A, and 5A will take place on November 20 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
Jeremy Castro, the general manager and vice president of broadcasting for KJZZ 14, stated that the lineup represents all six classifications this fall. The broadcast team will consist of Steve Brown, Alema Harrington, and Tony Parks.
All games will be televised live in high definition on channel 14 and streamed on KJZZ.com. Digital downloads of each game will also be available for purchase via the website.
John B. Lund, president and CEO of America First Credit Union, noted the organization's role as title sponsor and its dedication to supporting community athletic programs. KJZZ provides over-the-air coverage throughout Utah, as well as parts of Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.
