Afuhia Manatau is under arrest following an incident on Monday, August 18, outside a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse in Kearns. Police said Manatau's 17-year-old son is accused of killing one person and critically injuring another during a fight with two teens during a funeral.
Investigators stated that Manatau handed his son a gun, which the teenager then used to shoot the two victims. One individual died in the incident, while the other remains in critical condition.
Police reported that Manatau drove away with his son, who had also sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The vehicle was later stopped by officers following a chase. The teenager remains in critical condition.
Manatau is currently being held without bond.
