Monte Vista Elementary celebrated reading this school year with a Read-A-Thon day, according to a report published October 2.
A school assembly launched the event as students read the final chapters of "The Wishing Tree" alongside special guest readers.
To begin the school year, every student received a copy of "The Wishing Tree." The school utilized audio narrations for students to follow along with at home, featuring recordings from South Jordan mayor Dawn Ramsey and Jordan School District Superintendent Anthony Godfrey.
Following the assembly, classes participated in quiet reading time in their classrooms to support a statewide read-a-thon established by Utah Governor Spencer Cox. Students used pillows and blankets to read their favorite books during the session.
