By the time his second round was done Friday, Smotherman made the leap over everyone and stood alone at the head of the tournament field. Smotherman shot a 9-under 62, tying Zach Bauchou for low round of the week, and took a 1-shot lead over Kevin Roy after two rounds on the Black Desert course in Ivins.
