SANPETE, EMERY counties, Aug. 24, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Black Canyon Fire, straddling the Sanpete and Emery county borders, remains at 78% contained, and drones are being used to identify hot spots along the western and northern perimeter.

Lightning strike caught on camera sparks fire in Richmond

Days after teen hiker's death, family creates memorial fund for scholarship

Friends and family of a 16-year-old boy killed during a hiking fall in Little Cottonwood Canyon are creating a scholarship to honor his life. Zach Crandall was killed Wednesday while hiking Devil's Castle near Alta with three friends. At one point during the hike, Crandall fell more than 100 feet, and despite the arrival of medical personnel, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-15 bridge repairs to trigger closures in Juab County

LEVAN, Utah (ABC4) — Multiple roads and highways will be closed in Juab County due to construction projects, starting Tuesday. According to Juab County Sheriff's Office, the I-15 bridge rehabilitation project west of Levan will cause north and south bound closures.

Lady Dino tennis edges North Sanpete on road

The Lady Dino tennis squad made the road trip to Mount Pleasant on Thursday to take on the North Sanpete Hawks. With a couple of matches going the distance, Carbon was able to come home with the 3-2 win. Coming off of a 5-1 loss at Manti on Tuesday, the Dinos were looking to get back out there and get the win.
