The Iron Fire reached 100 percent containment as of July 5, 2026. The wildfire, which originated near Eureka in Juab County, burned an estimated 41,842 acres across Juab, Utah, and Toole counties.
The fire was first reported late on the evening of Friday, June 19, 2026. By the following morning, the incident had grown to an estimated size of over 1,000 acres. The cause of the fire was identified as human-caused.
Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 3 assumed command of the Iron Fire at 6:00 AM on June 22, 2026. On June 27, the same management team also took command of the Cherry Fire and began managing both incidents.
At the time of the final update, fire behavior was described as minimal with isolated smoldering occurring in heavy fuels. While there was little to no threat to containment lines or values at risk, officials noted that heavy fuels would continue to hold heat until completely consumed.
Suppression repair operations continued throughout the fire area across Divisions A, B, E, and Z. Planned actions included implementing repair objectives and conducting monitoring and patrols by both air and ground.
Weather conditions during this period included a warming trend with high temperatures in the mid- to upper-80s and low humidity. A Fuels and Fire Behavior Advisory remained in effect due to fuel conditions significantly drier than seasonal averages.
