A mandatory evacuation has been ordered in part of Lehi following a punctured natural gas line. City officials stated that crews from the Lehi Fire Department responded to the incident near 24 W. Main Street around noon on Friday.
Enbridge Gas ordered the mandatory evacuation for all properties located within two blocks in every direction of the intersection of South Center Street and West Main Street due to the gas leak.
According to city officials, the evacuation also included the Legacy Center and its south parking lot. The Legacy Center remained closed until Saturday.
Authorities have asked individuals to avoid the area and follow all directions provided by emergency personnel.
An estimated timeline for repairs to the leak or for when evacuated residents and businesses may return has not been announced. City officials said they would provide updates as more information becomes available.
