Utah County voters in Alpine, Highland, Cedar Hills, and Lehi can view their upcoming Nov. 3 general election ballot following the release of the official sample ballot by the Utah County Clerk's Office. According to a September 21 report, the ballot includes more than a dozen races and two constitutional amendments for the county's more than 371,000 registered voters.
The sample ballot features several high-profile contests. In U.S. House District 4, incumbent Rep. Mike Kennedy faces Democrat Jonny Larsen, Libertarian Taylor Wright, and unaffiliated candidate Steven Burt. In State Senate District 21, Sen. Brady Brammer faces Democrat Kandee Myers and Forward Party candidate Wayne Woodfield.
Two Utah County Commission seats are up for election as incumbents Brandon Gordon and Amelia Powers Gardner are not seeking reelection. For Seat A, former Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi faces Democrat Jeanne Marie Bowen and Independent American Party candidate Jacob D. Oaks. For Seat B, former Orem City Councilman David M. Spencer faces Democrat J. Allen and Forward Party candidate David Hinckley.
Other races include State School Board District 11, where Republican Tracy J. Nuttall faces Democrat Lacey Peterson, and the County Clerk race, where Lehi resident Corey Astill faces Forward Party candidate Russ J. Rampton. County Attorney Jeff Gray and Sheriff Mike Smith are running unopposed as Republicans, while Republican Gina Tanner faces Independent American Party candidate Hans V. Andersen for county auditor.
The ballot also includes two constitutional amendments. Amendment A would move the publication of proposed amendments from newspapers to the Utah Public Notice Website and the Lieutenant Governor's website for 60 days before an election. Amendment B would require a 60% voter approval for citizen-proposed laws that raise taxes, rather than a simple majority.
Additionally, the ballot includes a retention vote for Utah Supreme Court Justice Jill Pohlman. Voters can review judicial performance evaluations at judges.utah.gov.
