Moroni City has announced its intention to reclaim ownership of unused cemetery lots, according to a notice published August 12. The action is being taken pursuant to Utah State Code and Moroni City Resolution No. 2025-10-16B.
The city will reclaim ownership of any cemetery lot, plot, or site that has remained unused for burial purposes for more than sixty years. Affected lots include specific plots belonging to the following original owners:
Samuel Gee: Section B Block 2 Lot 60F Plots 1-3 and 8
Clara Gee: Section B Block 2 Lot 58F Plots 3 and 6
William Story: Section C Block 1 Lot 43F Plots 1-6
T. Blaine Moore: Section C Block 1 Lot 44F Plots 3-8
Hans Jacob Arnoldson: Section C Block 1 Lot 45F Plots 2 and 6-8
Monte Anderson: Section D Block 3 Lot 44F Plots 1, 4, and 6-8
Ruel Syme: Section D Block 3 Lot 53F Plots 4-8
W.R Macintosh: Section E Block 3 Lot 33S Plot 4
Owners or heirs wishing to maintain ownership rights must file a formal Notice of Legal Interest with the Moroni City Recorder. This filing must state a valid intent to use the property for burial. A response must be submitted within 60 days from the last day the notice is published.
If a valid claim of interest is not received by the Moroni City Recorder within the 60-day period, ownership rights will be considered terminated. In such cases, the lot will be legally recognized as abandoned and ownership will automatically transfer to Moroni City.
