Brigham Young University homecoming festivities are underway in anticipation of the Cougars football game against Iowa State on Friday night in Provo, according to an October 7 report.
An opening ceremony was held Tuesday in the Marriott Center, which featured performances from various on-campus groups. On Tuesday night, students hiked Y Mountain and lit it up.
The university will hold several events on Thursday. At 11 a.m., Alumni Achievement Award recipients are scheduled to offer lectures in buildings across campus.
From noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Brigham Square will host a celebration of the Cougar mascot's legacy. This event will include teaching facts about the nickname and handing out Cougar Tails.
Additional festivities are scheduled for Friday ahead of the football game. Brigham Square will host carnival games and activities for students from noon to 2 p.m.
The Cougar Canyon pre-game tailgate is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. west of LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The homecoming celebrations lead up to the scheduled matchup between the BYU Cougars and Iowa State.
