A person died following a fiery four-car crash involving an RV on Interstate 15 near Mesquite on Sunday, July 5, 2026. The accident took place in the northbound lanes just before 2 p.m., according to Mesquite Fire Rescue.
While specific details regarding the crash were not released, photos from the scene showed an RV on its side engulfed in flames. Three people were transported to local area hospitals for medical treatment.
Mesquinte Fire Rescue stated that one person, who had not been identified, died as a result of the crash. The Nevada Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the accident.
The Nevada Highway Patrol described the event as a heartbreaking tragedy and commended bystanders who assisted before responders arrived. According to the department, several citizens stopped to help injured motorists away from the burning RV without regard for their own safety.
One victim was moved from the roadway to safety by a bystander, while another individual pulled a person from the RV moments before it caught fire. The Nevada Highway Patrol noted that many others provided water and blankets to those involved.
Responders at the scene included Mesquinte Fire Rescue, the Mesquinte Police Department, Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department, and Life Flight. Mesquinte Fire Rescue noted that the crash serves as a reminder for drivers to reduce speeds, eliminate distractions, and remain attentive while driving.
