The Utah Department of Public Safety is supporting increased DUI enforcement blitzes during holiday weekends to combat impaired driving. During St. Patrick's Day, officials noted the importance of keeping shenanigans off the road as it is often one of the largest drinking nights.
For Super Bowl Sunday, law enforcement prepared for a statewide blitz following data showing crash risk spikes 2.3x on that day.
The Utah Department of Public Safety's Highway Safety Office, in partnership with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) and WCF Insurance, has previously held briefings urging Utahns to include a sober ride in their holiday plans.
