The University of Utah has detailed its summer 2026 housing availability for interns and the campus community, offering specialized accommodations at Benchmark Plaza Apartments and various reservation windows for campus residences through August.
Benchmark Plaza Intern Amenities
For summer interns requiring a minimum stay of 30 nights, the University of Utah Summer Conferences program is offering accommodations at Benchmark Plaza Apartments. This housing option is available for the period spanning May 18, 2026, through August 2, 2026.
According to information from the University of Utah Summer Conferences, the Benchmark Plaza units are equipped with Twin XL beds, dressers, desks, and closets. Each apartment features a full kitchen, a living room area containing couches, end tables, and coffee tables, and bathrooms located within the unit. The university also provides air conditioning, high-speed internet, and 24-hour assistance to residents.
Logistics and Resident Requirements
The University of Utah Summer Conferences noted that while laundry facilities are available on each floor of the apartments, the university does not provide detergent. Guests can receive a pillow, bed linen, and a small towel upon request, though the university recommends that guests bring their own large towels, washcloths, and hairdryers.
Prospective residents should be aware that the university does not provide any kitchen equipment, such as pots, pans, dishes, or utensils. Additionally, while summer guests may receive mail if their stay exceeds 30 days, they must coordinate parking through the University of Utah Commuter Services office. The university recommends purchasing a parking pass at least one week prior to arrival and contacting Commuter Services at 801-581-6415 for permit information.
Campus Conduct and Safety
Strict campus policies remain in effect for all summer residents. The University of Utah Summer Conferences stated that alcohol, illegal drugs, smoking, fireworks, and hoverboards are strictly prohibited on any part of the university campus. Violations of these policies may result in fines, legal action, or immediate eviction.
For safety purposes, the university also maintains a policy regarding visitors at Heritage Commons. Residents are instructed not to allow other individuals into the residential area when entering and are explicitly told not to prop doors open for visitor access.
Summer Reservation Windows
The University of Utah Housing & Dining Programs announced that summer 2026 applications opened on March 12 at 10 a.m. This year's availability includes reservations for Lassonde Studios, Shoreline Ridge, and the Impact & Prosperity Epicenter.
The university confirmed there will be no room renewals available for the summer term. For those utilizing May Break Housing, a $240 fee is associated with that election.
Booking Periods and Dates
The university established three distinct booking periods for summer reservations. Session 1 ran from Friday, May 8 at 9 a.m. until Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. Session 2 began on Tuesday, June 16 at 9 a.m. and continued through Saturday, August 1 at 2 p.m.
A combined booking option was also available for those seeking to cover both periods, spanning from Friday, May 8 at 9 a.m. until Saturday, August 1 at 2 p.m.
Dining and Recreation Access
Additional campus resources are available to summer residents. While meal plans are not included with Summer Guest reservations, guests are encouraged to contact dining services regarding options, noting that summer hours are subject to determination.
