The Uintah County Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, to address several land use and regulatory items.
The meeting will take place at the State/County Building on the second floor in the Commission Chambers, located at 152 East 100 North, Vernal, Utah.
One primary item on the agenda is a request for a Conditional Use Permit by Alyssa and Ryan Phillips. The proposal seeks to establish and operate an educational equestrian facility at 7424 N Old Power Plant Road in Vernal. This facility, referred to as the Taddei Equal Equine CUP, would provide activities including horseback riding lessons, guided trail rides, horse boarding, educational programs, youth camps, and clinics.
Additionally, the commission will hold a hearing regarding the revocation of a Conditional Use Permit for TD2 Trailer Sales. The consideration for revoking Permit No. 2297, located at 2754 W Hwy. 40, is due to noncompliance with the Uintah County Code following a failure to renew the required business license for 2026.
The commission will also consider a land use ordinance amendment regarding wild animal ownership. The proposed change to Chapter 6.04.030 would remove the current five-foot length restriction for nonvenomous snakes. If passed, the amendment would allow for larger nonvenomous snakes while maintaining existing restrictions on venomous snakes and poisonous spiders.
This amendment was submitted by resident and business owner James Morrissey. The County Commission will make a final decision following a recommendation from the Planning Commission.
Public comments during the meeting will be limited to two minutes per person. Individuals requiring special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act may notify Matt Cazier at least five days prior to the meeting.
