Identification and residency requirements
To obtain a library card, individuals 18 years of age or older must present a current government, school, or employer-issued photo ID that includes their full name. Applicants must also provide proof of address via a driver license issued within the last three months, a current rental agreement or receipt, or mail postmarked within the past three months. The library accepts these documents in both print and electronic formats.
Rules for minor applicants
For children between the ages of 5 and 17, a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the application. This guardian must have an active Orem Library account in good standing and provide their own photo identification.
Finalizing the registration process
After completing online preregistration, users must visit the library circulation desk within 14 days to finalize the process by presenting required identification and proof of address.
Returns and late fee policies
Regarding account management, most items can be returned via the 24-hour drive-up book-drop located on the north side of the library. While late fees for most materials are $0.10 per day, videos and DVDs incur a fine of $0.50 per day. A $5.00 late fee is applied when an item reaches 30 days overdue. Charges for lost or damaged items consist of the original cost plus a $5.00 processing fee, with charges for lost or damaged books requiring in-person payment.
