ArtOps is a service dedicated to providing Utah artists with various opportunities ranging from local to international sources. These opportunities include exhibitions, residencies, funding, and professional development.
Several local opportunities are currently available to artists. Great Basin National Park is accepting applications for Artist in Residence opportunities for 2027, with a deadline of Oct. 30, 2026. The Boulder Project in Salt Lake City offers a Community Arts Program designed to amplify artistic expression through a community-centered space. The Sorenson Community Campus Art Galleries accepts applications from individual artists, groups, and non-profit organizations with no application fee. Additionally, the UMOCA Projects Gallery serves as an exhibition space dedicated to promoting Utah artists within local and national contemporary art worlds. The Davis Arts Council is seeking solo artists and groups for submissions to the Snow Horse Art Galleries located at Intermountain Layton Hospital and the Davis Conference Center. Millcreek Commons also accepts vendor applications for markets held throughout the summer.
National and international opportunities are also available through the service. New American Paintings is currently accepting applications for its 2026 Annual MFA Call for Artists. This call is open to all current MFA candidates and graduates since 2021. The juror for this call is Lauren Rosati, an associate curator in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. The application deadline for this call is Oct. 31, 2026.
ArtOps provides various additional resources for artists, including tools such as a grant writing checklist and a teaching artist pay rate calculator from Creative West. Other resources include the W.A.G.E. Fee Calculator, which uses a four-tiered system to determine fair compensation based on institutional budget size. The platform also offers guides for writing artist biographies, artist statements, and visual artist curriculum vitae, as well as tips for entering juried exhibitions and competitions.
