North Salt Lake is preparing for several community activities and maintenance projects this summer, including street preservation treatments and upcoming outdoor excursions.
Street preservation season has arrived in North Salt Lake. Over the next several weeks, the city will apply protective treatments to newer streets to seal pavement and extend road life. Officials stated that these preventative measures aim to save taxpayer dollars by reducing the need for costly future repairs. Residents are advised to check schedules and keep vehicles off streets on treatment days and, where necessary, for 24 hours afterward.
The city is also celebrating the 13th annual Get to the River Festival. Registration for the NSL Jordan River Paddle opens August 1. The event features a 3-mile paddle from the Riverview Boat Ramp in Salt Lake City to Porter’s Landing in North Salt Lake. While a limited number of canoes may be available for free with advanced reservations, participants are welcome to bring their own watercraft provided they register. The paddle is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM.
The North Salt Lake Summer Trail Series continues on Saturday, August 22, with a hike at Springhill Geologic Park. Participants can meet at 191 Springhill Drive at 8:00 a.m. to explore the park's rock formations and native vegetation. The series includes a challenge where hikers can earn stickers for completing featured hikes; collecting four stickers earns a prize. The final hike in the series is scheduled for September 19 at Foxboro Wetlands.
