Davis School District is recognizing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month throughout September, according to a September 1 statement. The district is joining communities nationwide to honor children, families, and survivors impacted by pediatric cancer.
As part of the awareness efforts, the district will share stories from students and families across the district who have faced childhood cancer. These stories are intended to highlight the courage and resilience of student cancer warriors while helping the community understand the challenges families face during and after treatment.
By sharing these local stories, the district aims to increase awareness, encourage compassion, and recognize the strength of students who continue to learn and grow while navigating difficult circumstances.
The district expressed gratitude for local organizations that provide support and resources to families affected by childhood cancer. These include Bee the Hope, founded by Lauren Vengels, which provides financial assistance and advocacy, and the BLoubird Foundation, founded by Shealynn Covington, which works to provide comfort and support to families throughout their cancer journeys.
