The Santa Clara City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on July 23, 2026, to consider a proposed rezoning and project plan for the Big Rocks Subdivision. The proposal seeks to transform roughly 13 acres of open space into a commercial development intended for a wedding and event center.
Proposed Rezoning Details
According to a notice from the City of Santa Clara, the hearing will take place at 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers located at 2603 Santa Clara Drive. The meeting is intended to provide a forum for receiving public input regarding the development of the property situated at 4405 W. 1700 N.
The project, submitted by applicants Randy and Sue Yocum, involves Lots 1, 2, and 3 of the Big Rocks Subdivision. The subject properties encompass approximately 12.99 acres.
Development Objectives
The applicants are requesting to rezone the land from its current Open Space OS Zone to a Planned Development Commercial, or PDC Zone. This change in designation is necessary to facilitate the construction and operation of a wedding and event center on the site.
The City of Santa Clara noted that residents are encouraged to attend the hearing to express any concerns regarding the proposed action.
Public Accommodations
City officials stated that individuals requiring special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act should notify City Recorder Selena Nez at least 24 hours before the hearing. Requests for auxiliary communicative aids or services can be directed to the City Recorder's office.
