A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries Friday morning after colliding with an SUV on State Street in South Salt Lake.
South Salt Lake police officers responded to the crash near 3300 South at approximately 9:45 p.m., according to department spokesman Shaun Ward.
According to Ward, a woman motorcyclist believed to be about 30 years old was traveling southbound on State Street when she was struck by a Chevy Tahoe that pulled out of the Chinatown parking lot.
The collision resulted in the motorcyclist being ejected from her vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, though her injuries are currently considered non-life-threatening, Ward said.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Ward stated there is no indication that the driver was impaired.
Southbound State Street, just south of 3300 South, was expected to remain closed to traffic for approximately two hours while investigators processed the crash scene.
