The Stookey Fire in Tooele County grew to 6,600 acres overnight. The fire was mapped at approximately 4,000 acres the previous night before erratic winds fueled its expansion.
As of Monday afternoon, no structures were threatened by the blaze. However, the fire caused the closure of Pony Express Road at State Route 36.
On Monday, air assets worked on the west flank of the fire, while ground crews attempted to establish a north perimeter above Faust Canyon.
According to Utah Fire Info, winds were favorable for suppression efforts.
