The Sand Springs Student Council is collecting food to help families at a local elementary school enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. The drive is currently underway and will continue through Thursday, November 12.
Donations consist of unopened, nonperishable goods in good condition and within their expiration dates. Requested items include stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, gravy, canned yams, sweet potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, cornbread or muffin mixes, canned vegetables, boxed macaroni and cheese, and canned fruit. Other unopened nonperishable goods are also welcome.
Donors can drop off food in a house's designated section by the Stallion Steps or place donations in a box labeled with a house name within their neighborhood.
The drive includes a competition between six school houses to see which can collect the most food. The competing houses are Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi, Reveur, Onraka, and Nukumori.
