Utah State defeated Washington State 17-16 on Friday night, powered by 14 unanswered points in the second half, according to a October 10 report. The Aggies utilized two Washington State fumbles in the second half to secure the win in Logan, Utah.
Grady Brosterhous threw for 150 yards and a touchdown during the contest. He connected with Eli Wood for a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter with 7:08 remaining to bring the score to 16-10. Wood finished the game with six catches for 84 yards.
Javen Jacobs contributed 62 rushing yards and a touchdown for Utah State. His 2-yard touchdown run occurred with 6:22 left in the fourth quarter following a fumble by Washington State tight end Jack Pedersen. The Aggies' scoring drives following the fumbles required 39 yards and 19 yards respectively.
Washington State was limited to 64 total yards in the second half. Caden Pinnick completed 23 of 36 passes for 156 yards and recorded one fumble. Leo Pulalasi accumulated 60 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Cougars.
Utah State also saw a 48-yard field goal from Kian Afrookhteh early in the second quarter. The Aggies moved to a 2-4 record (1-1 in Pac-12), while Washington State fell to 1-5 (0-2) after losing three consecutive games.
Washington State is scheduled to play at Oregon State on Oct. 17. Utah State is scheduled to play at Texas State on Oct. 24.
