Ogden natives Connor Howe and Mitchell Schow earned sponsor exemptions to compete in the 35th anniversary edition of the Utah Championship. The tournament was scheduled to take place from July 30 through August 2 at the Ogden Golf & Country Club.
The Utah Championship is presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health and hosted by the Utah Sports Commission. Both Howe and Schow are recipients of the Tony Finau Foundation Mentoring Program. Jeff Robbins, the president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission, stated that the partnership with the Tony Finau Foundation creates opportunities for the next generation of players and expressed pride in the golfers representing Ogden and the State of Sport.
Tony Finau noted that both golfers earned these opportunities through their hard work and expressed excitement regarding them testing their games against the Utah Championship field in their hometown.
Connor Howe, a Weber High School graduate, turned professional in 2023 following a career at Georgia Tech. His recent achievements include a fourth-place finish at the Diners Club Peru Open and a tie for seventh at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open on the PGA TOUR Americas. Howe had previously made the cut in each of the last two years at the Utah Championship.
Mitchell Schow is a graduate of Park City High School and the University of Utah. Schow won the 2020 Utah State Amateur title and the 2023 Salt Lake City Open. His previous professional experience includes a tie for 17th at the 2024 Barracuda Championship and making the cut as a Monday qualifier at the 2025 Utah Championship.
Both golfers expressed excitement about competing in their hometown. Howe described the opportunity to play at the course where he grew up as a dream come true, while Schow noted the significance of playing in front of friends and family in the Ogden community.
