Work is underway at Dilworth Elementary to renovate the school's athletic fields. As of July 9, 2026, crews are removing the initial layer of grass on both fields as part of a weed removal process.
Following the removal of the grass, workers will begin a slight regrading of the southwest field and diamond. This specific area is intended for use by the Highland High baseball team.
Once the regrading process is complete, crews will place soil and new sod on the fields. The areas will be fenced off for a period of time after the sod is laid to allow for germination.
According to an update from November 7, 2025, survey and design work for the Dilworth Elementary field was scheduled for the spring of 2026, with construction set to begin in the summer.
Field use was expected to continue as normal through the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
