Construction began on the 7000 South Entrance Improvement Project, a roadside beautification project located just east of 1300 West. The project was designed to enhance one of West Jordan's main entrances through the addition of new landscaping, decorative retaining walls, and colorful ground covers.
The project utilized a water-wise planting design intended to be both attractive and sustainable. Once the improvements were complete, the design was expected to create a more welcoming gateway to the city while reducing long-term maintenance needs and water use.
Construction activities included lane closures for both inside lanes starting July 27, which was expected to last for one month. During this time, closures were in effect from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday, while one lane in each direction remained open.
The FY 2027 tentative budget included a proposed tax rate increase. The West Jordan City Council was scheduled to make a decision on the tax increase at the August 25 meeting.
