A procession including various groups marched toward the courthouse and along the streetcar tracks, accompanied by a band providing music.

At one event, an orator delivered a thirty-minute address celebrating the achievements of forefathers and the liberties they secured. The heat was noted to be excessively hot, which caused some companies to retire early from their duties.
