Brighton High School has released its schedule of events and important announcements for the week of May 4 through May 8, 2026. The school's current focus includes AP testing and a variety of athletic competitions involving local opponents.
In addition to academic and athletic commitments, the school is managing deadlines for graduation speech tryouts and yearbook purchases.
The week features several athletic contests across multiple sports. On Monday, girls golf will compete at Viewmont at 9 a.m., while baseball faces Alta at Brighton at 4 p.m. Girls lacrosse is also scheduled to play Weber at Brighton at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday's schedule includes softball at Alta at 3:30 p.m., boys soccer at Alta at 3:30 p.m., and baseball at Alta at 4 p.m. On Wednesday, boys volleyball will compete at UVU at 9 a.m., track region events take place at Viewmont at 1:30 p.m., and softball plays at Skyline at 3:30 p.m.
Additional Wednesday matchups include baseball against Alta at Brighton at 4 p.m., boys lacrosse at Olympus at 7 p.m., and girls lacrosse against Olympus at Brighton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday features boys volleyball semifinals and finals at UVU, as well as track region championships at Viewmont at 3 p.m. On Friday, boys lacrosse plays at Box Elder at 7 p.m., and the Little Theater will host an improv show at 7 p.m. State tennis is scheduled for Saturday at Brighton at 9 a.m.
Seniors interested in serving as graduation speakers must follow specific procedures. Tryouts are scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, after school at 2:30 p.m. in Mr. Hodges's room, 3511.
To participate, students must sign up for a time slot by Monday, May 4, in room 3511. The school noted that no walk-ins will be allowed and students must have an appointed time. Speeches are expected to be two to three minutes long, include a title, and incorporate this year's senior theme: 'The idea is not to live forever, but to create something that will.'
Yearbook sales are also underway at the main office for $60. The deadline to purchase a yearbook in advance is Friday, May 16. Students who miss this deadline must wait until May 26 to purchase. Yearbooks are scheduled for distribution on May 26 at 11:00 a.m.
