Provo City issued a scam alert in a report published September 23, 2026, regarding fraudulent phone calls targeting residents. According to the city, callers are falsely claiming to be members of the Provo City Planning Commission to solicit payment for allegedly unpaid or underpaid city fees.
The city stated that these calls are scams and emphasized that Provo City will not call to solicit any payments over the phone. Residents are advised not to provide payment or personal information if they receive such a call.
If an individual has already provided payment information, the city advises contacting a bank or card issuer immediately and then visiting provo.gov/police to file a report. For questions, residents can contact customer service at 311 or (801) 852-6000.
